Your Bio
Gregory Sylvester, born in Calgary, AB. spent much of his childhood growing up in, and travelling around, western Canada and California.... Seeing the wide open spaces of the prairies, the sun and surf of California, and the incredible mountains and wildlife of beautiful British Columbia and Alberta... This gave him a true appreciation, of the world around him and the people too... Travelling the world with his parents, he often found himself reflecting back on their adventures together. As he looked at the beautiful photos taken by his parents, and as he grew older, he knew that he too, wanted to take photos and capture the glorious world surrounding him, so that at any time, he could look at a photo and remember every moment that image rekindled in his memory.
This ambition led him to begin photography as a hobby in 1983, when his parents bought him a camera (a red Snapper point and shoot) of his own... He went all over taking pictures with that camera... Exploring what one can do with a point and shoot camera... Trying different styles of photography, lighting, action, and subjects... As time went on he became very good with his old camera but, never had the financial ability to go beyond the little Snapper... So, he put away his dreams and moved on to the world of architecture and engineering...
Having success in that industry, Gregory was able to make his financial goal, to buy his first new SLR camera... He was so excited to be able to start working on new styles and ideas he had for his photography with the new camera...
Although many years have since passed, Gregory still has the Canon and the little red Snapper, even though they are among many other cameras in his collection... He now has the time to do his photography, on a more professional basis and, the ability to sell his shots to the community... Being able to bring the beauty and wonder of nature to people through his photography is something that always brings pleasure to Gregory, and he hopes his photos allow and encourage people to view nature in all its glory, whether it is in the simplicity of a flower, or in the peace and comfort of a beautiful sunset... Nature is there for you, and you need only to open your eyes to the beauty it holds.
